Syrphus Hoverfly Syrphidae

A common Hoverfly with a number of similars in the Genus making it difficult to identify to species . Syrphus have moustache like bands  with the intervening black markings on the tergite uptiuned and reaching the edge of the abdomen.

Hoverflies often dont get the credit they deserve and are given second place to Bees  but they are responsible for pollinating many plants and flowers
